Acceptable Use Policy
1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all users of the Settlah platform, including Tenant administrators, staff users, and Customers accessing the Customer Portal. It supplements our Terms of Service.
2. Prohibited Uses
You must not use the Service to:
- Engage in any activity that is illegal, fraudulent, or harmful under the laws of England and Wales
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse any individual, including debtors
- Send communications that misrepresent the legal status of a debt or the consequences of non-payment
- Impersonate any person, business, or government authority
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems not belonging to you
- Attempt to circumvent tenant isolation, authentication, or authorisation controls
- Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited commercial communications
- Engage in any activity that constitutes a breach of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules or the Consumer Credit Act 1974
- Overload, disrupt, or impair the Service or its infrastructure (including DDoS attacks)
- Use automated tools (scrapers, bots) to access the Service without our written permission
3. Content Standards
All content uploaded to or transmitted through the Service must:
- Be accurate and not misleading
- Comply with applicable UK laws and regulations
- Not contain personal data of individuals who have not given appropriate consent for its processing
- Not be defamatory, obscene, or discriminatory
- Not infringe any intellectual property rights of any third party
4. Enforcement
We reserve the right to:
- Investigate any suspected violation of this AUP
- Suspend or terminate access to the Service without notice for serious breaches
- Remove or disable access to any content that violates this AUP
- Report any unlawful activity to the relevant authorities
- Cooperate with law enforcement investigations
We will use reasonable efforts to notify you before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is required to protect the Service, other users, or comply with the law.
